Consistency & Results: How a steady schedule of care really helped

That's a photo of me - Allison (she/they), Practice Manager at Turning Pointe - enjoying the bloom on Dog Mountain a couple weekends ago.

Though it may not be obvious, I'm someone with a long-standing back injury and chronic body pain (muscular, skeletal, and nerve) that impacts my daily living. Every day. For most of my adult life, I've experienced cyclical symptoms of PMDD and up until very recently have generally operated in the zone of extremely "tired and wired" or "obsessed and depressed" in terms of stress, anxiety, and overwhelm. I'm a sensitive human and a lot of what I feel doesn't feel... good.

I've been coming to the clinic as a patient myself for weekly or bi-weekly treatments over the last few months — a combination of acupuncture, cupping (I LOVE CUPPING), and massage across all of our practitioners — and my quality of life has improved so dramatically I'm moved to share!

Some of the very tangible impacts I've experienced under our providers’ care are:

  • decreased pain

  • increased mobility

  • more attunement to my body

  • locating underlying causes after addressing presenting symptoms

  • lowering of general anxiety

  • ability to maintain a sense of calm and groundedness

  • greater ability to focus and concentrate

  • releasing defensive posturing and rigidity

  • ability to relax

  • better sleep

  • reduced digestive disruption (YAY!)

  • movement of some deep spiritual stagnancy

I've had some experience with these modalities before, but between the expertise and intuition of our practitioners and the intentional consistency of my treatments, I really wanted to share in a public way that change is possible!

While I had some immediate relief after my first treatments, there was definitely an ebb and flow to how I was feeling. There were some incredibly powerful treatments that moved A LOT and made a huge difference right away. Others, I would leave frustrated - feeling like nothing happened or even a few where I felt worse. This type of coordinated healing can be a real "peeling an onion" experience and it varies treatment by treatment. I have some overlapping conditions and layer by layer the practitioners and I are discovering what is asking to be addressed next.

Sometimes it's direct and quick. Sometimes it needs more attention or repetition. By sticking to my consistent schedule of care, staying hydrated (seriously), and listening to my body, I'm now seeing a level of sustained overall improvement that to be honest, I had previously written off as impossible. Impossible. And I don't say that lightly.

I know not everyone needs a frequency of care that I do (and that eventually, I'll move to a more reduced maintenance mode!). I know not everyone will experience the same results that I am. I also know firsthand that it can be extremely hard to get started — to make the commitment to show up — and even harder to continue to show up for care on a consistent basis.

That said, I am genuinely looking forward to how GOOD I can feel for a change — and that is truly a gift. I hope this testimonial encourages you find the support you need and stick with it. What's possible for you? How good might you be able to feel? We're here for you.
